Vietnam to Austin: Restoring Community

The Austin History Center and the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation invite you to the exhibit opening reception for "Vietnam to Austin: Restoring Community" on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 2-4pm.  The exhibit will run from February 21 to July 17, 2009.   This is the first Asian American exhibit at the Austin History Center and one of the first of its kind in the country.

Focusing on the history, transition, and contributions of local Vietnamese Americans in Austin, this exhibit includes historic photos, documents, periodicals, and archives.  Each display will weave personal stories of endurance and triumph that will illustrate their incredible journeys and the ways they have embraced Austin as their new home.

Join us as we showcase this fascinating and emerging community that is eager to share its rich culture, heritage, and history.  We sincerely hope you will participate in this historic event on March 7, 2009 from 2-4pm at the Austin History Center. The program featuring special guests will begin at 3pm. Vietnamese refreshments will be served and a special keepsake will be distributed.  The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
